just a point missed by most, the Dubai announcement occurred before the business closing for Eid-ul-Adha - a major Muslim holiday period . it was not timed for western purposes, or Thanksgiving.

the timing was curious because it precluded rescue actions from UAE or Abu Dhabi for many days because of the holiday.

this is the issue i do not understand.

Selling gold at 1199.30 is a difficult trade.
Maybe that's why we like it...

Friday was Dubai day and Dubai was a deflationary event making Friday a deflationary sentiment day
So au and the market went down same as they rise on inflationary sentiment days
My request to Rick is to post a new blog entry with his own take on why during a time of generalized deflation and credit collapsing into itself gold is in inflationary mode. I have heard others explain and now I would like to hear monsieur Rick's explanation
Circa 1983 I bought "How to Survive and Prosper During the Next American Depression War or Revolution"
He said we would reach a day (sure took a while) where markets would roar up and down and we would have simultaneous deflation and inflation. This book is prophetic but I won't promo it as a masterpiece. It's on Amazon and the price is double what it was six months ago

&&&&&&

Feeding off the collapse of a $900 trillion debt bubble, deflationary forces are vastly more powerful now than inflationary forces, and it is only the price of shares that is rising. Debt deflation will run its course until the K-Wave bottoms around 2020 (per Ian Gordon, who sees the Dow eventually falling to 1000). As for gold, think of it as sitting still relative to a basket of collapsing currencies. RA
