We’ll Know Soon How the Economy Is Doing

Data due out this week will offer an accurate snapshot of the economy as Trump takes the reins from Obama. The most important news will concern mortgage applications, a key indicator of re-fi activity that is critical to maintaining household liquidity in our moribund economy. Car-sale data scheduled for release on Thursday will tell us how the economy is doing ‘where the rubber meets the road.’ We’ll also find out whether Trump’s election has bolstered consumer confidence on Tuesday when that datum is released, along with GDP numbers for the third quarter.

    Rick, I get the overwhelming impression that “they” are pulling out all the stops here, to make it look as though Obama is handing off a thriving US economy to Trump. I won’t be surprised in the least, if suddenly on January 21st, the proverbial sky starts falling.
