The Election from Hell Has Rubbed Us All Raw

dantes-infernoFeeling depleted lately? More irritable? Plagued by screw-ups? Did the waitress get your order wrong? Forget to put a stamp on an important letter before you dropped it in the mailbox? I did. Even the Rick’s Picks chat room has been in an unusually agitated state. Genfer, our go-to guy with all the answers, exited in a huff on Friday, annoyed by the ugliness of a political discussion that he himself had provoked. Many in the room have commented on the stock market’s jittery angst, which has persisted not just for days or weeks, but for months. There’s an explanation for this, and it is not Mercury in retrograde. That won’t happen for another seven weeks. No, the problem lies not in our stars, but in a bilious, years-long election cycle that has rubbed us all raw. The effect, stoked by the news media’s shameful dereliction, has intensified over time, much in the way that sleep deprivation over time impairs our ability to cope and to make decisions. Even the once-in-many-lifetimes World Series match-up between the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians has not been enough to distract us from the Campaign from Hell.  Yes, it will all be over in another ten days. Unfortunately, however, the outcome is certain to produce a winner whom more than half the U.S. population despises — who will begin his or her term as the least popular president ever to occupy the White House. Just as predictable is that, by late November, the news media hacks will already be focused, if that is the correct word, on Election 2020.

There’s something I wanted to touch upon in the comment I made for last week’s article, but there wasn’t any room to squeeze it in. It has alot more relevence in the topic today, though, so here it is…

Though the iron and clay feet of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream is the three stages of the Roman beast, they also describe Europe, even to the downfall of the very last beast. Clay refuses to stick to iron, so it doesn’t remain a part of the feet. But it also refuses to stick to itself. West Europe periodically breaks, always beginning in Germany: the Arian conquerors, the Thirty Years’ War, the World Wars, divided Cold War Germany, and, now, Merkel and her wonderful invasion policy, which is causing deepening cracks in the EU.

East is still as iron as ever. Arianism infected them, but lasted less than a century. The east also outlasted all thrown at it: Huns, Arians, Sassanids, Arab muslims, Seljuq Turks, and even the terrible Mongols. And though the east was taken, it refused to be broken. Within 400 years, the iron broke the Ottoman grip — where it took 800 years for west Europe to break Islam’s grip on Spain. And, like Arianism, communism in the east died within a century. Iron has indeed broken and subdued all things!

But clay and iron is Europe. What about the U.S.? It’s clear we’ve managed to do something west Europe hitherto has not, which is unite and remain united. England has also proven exceptional. Despite losing its empire, England is still England. (so far) Brexit proves that. So while we are descendants of the clay, we do not seem to be like the clay. I’d say, “Only time will tell”, but the time draws near. All else in the world is coming to a head, historically and prophetically. So we’ll know very soon. My hope for my country is iron…

YouTube: US National Anthem drowned out by cheers at 91 NHL All Star Game

I was 15 when I last saw and heard that. Apparently, many others haven’t forgotten that game, either. I miss that America. Time to welcome her back! And though I don’t believe Donald Trump is some kind of “The One” that will make America great again, his victory would prove that we have great endurance, for then we will have endured the teasonous serpents in DC and their cheerleader media. We will have broken them, not they having broken us. And that’s all iron needs to do.

Not only will we have an election from hell, but if the evil, criminal hag steals the election, in about 8 weeks, we’ll have another long national nightmare as she is impeached for treason.
