Wow GS at 29 or you dancing the hula in Times Square. Who would have thunk?
So GS has to be at 29 by when/what date, for you to avoid the dance this winter?
I should be buying cheap Out of the Money April Puts on GS for a killer profit?
This is almost a guaranteed event, Rick almost nude, in winter (this winter 08-09-right?) dancing anything would be a sight beyond the relam of possibilities I think?
Yes we would have to have video of it to be believed.
Thank you

Goldman at 29, wow, what would it take to it that level?? Let’s speculate. The FBI has numerous ongoing investigations into the big financial houses. What if they play the Russian Option and arrest them all. Picture Paulsen, Blankfein, and the whole extended Golman gang in prison pinstripes—-together with an “A” list of fellowtraveling capitalist roaders—–all in the hoosegow! That might give us 29, but the contrarian in me thinks that the whole affair might ignite a major relief rally. I can contemplate several more realistic more plausible scenarios for Rick’s price target but he had better start practicing those belly rolls and work on his tan so that he can present an accurate performance and display if the time comes.
And Jan, sir. Any further deflation might leave gold the only long game in town.

Scarier for the audience than for me, Billy. But don’t expect me to forego the cover of a coconut brassiere.

Too much deflation for gold to soar. It won’t go above $1000 in 2009 and if does it will slump back down below $1000. But that’s still good and a steady state gold price is better than the stock market

I would also recommend that Rick should be inbetween two authentic, not to mention young and beautiful, hula dancers. Alone by himself, just seems too incomplete.
Marblesonae….totally agree with the coconut bikini.

A senior Russian prosecutor accused “former and current deputy finance ministers” on Thursday of large-scale theft of state funds, but did not name them, Russian news agencies reported.
The allegations coincide with an economic crisis in Russia following a fall in the price of oil and raw materials. President Dmitry Medvedev has vowed to crack down on corruption although previous attempts to do so have largely failed.
“It would not be an exaggeration to say that some of the best specialists in finance and economics, including former and current deputy finance ministers, have been involved in organising large-scale theft of state funds in recent years,” Alexander Bastrykin, the head of the investigative committee of the Prosecutor-General’s office, was quoted as saying.

Russia released Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Storchak from jail on Oct. 21 pending his trial for embezzlement. Storchak’s arrest was seen as an attempt to undermine the position of his boss, Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin.
Storchak still formally holds his post as Deputy Finance Minister but is on leave. It was not clear from the agency reports whether one or more of Kudrin’s current deputies was under investigation.
The investigative committee’s press service declined to provide any details. The Finance Ministry was not available for comment. Deputy Finance Minister Dmitry Pankin, who took over Storchak’s duties, is on sick leave.
Other deputies to Kudrin are Sergei Shatalov, Oksana Sergiyenko, head of State Treasury Tatyana Nesterenko, Anton Siluanov and Alexander Novak.

The IMF said yesterday that it would not be selling 403 tons of gold as it had previously said it would.
I’m guessing some of yesterdays gains were short covering and some were caused by worries over inflation caused by the new wealth redistribution..er stimulus package.
Nice site Rick, thanks for hosting it.
I don’t think topless would be right…but I think you should wear a coconut bikini (hula) top 🙂
Movies would have to be taken and shown for us not fortunate enough to watch the event (should they happen) in person.

Whats with the love fest between gold and the dollar as of late? Two diametrically opposite entities should not be so cozy, they should be acting like the contentious entities they are, in violent opposition. Could the market be confused? Inflation is getting all the healines as of late while the dollar holds its ground. Both are safe havens for different reasons, could people be on the fence? Could deflation be taking a breather? Fundamentally that would make sense. Once deflation gets its second wind, I think the sails for gold will go into the doldrums and reverse course for a while (GDX seems to be “huffing and puffing” at the 34 dollar level.)
Rick, what do you think of the action in treasuries? Is the action technical or is this a corrective trend? If money’s leaving Treasuries could it be going to “under Sealys”? Treasuries seem to have fallen fast in the past mo. or so.
I’d like a few more details on the “hula bit” you are warming up for. That means no garments upper body at all (would be fair), and of course midnight, correct? How long will you dance (Hula’s can go on for hours) and who provides the music? Just trying to gauge the seriousness of your “forecast’s” before I lay down any money, that’s all. Let’s face it, you could actually have “fun” after a few cocktails and no parameters involved in the performance. Let’s discuss the details of your “dance” and I will sign up for another 90 days of your service if it seems “reasonably scary” to partake in.
