Hollywood sound editor Michael Redbourn has been nominated for two Emmys, but he’s also a blogger with some interesting opinions on an eclectic variety of subjects. We asked him to write on a topic of his choosing for Rick’s Picks, and he came back with some disquieting facts concerning the approximately $500 billion cost of caring for America’s illegal aliens. For a look at the facts and figures, along with extensive links, click here.

I just checked the factcheck site but they offer no figures themselves which seems strange.
Negative criticism is easy and everybody can do it all day but digging for facts actually requires a lot of work.
None of the links in the article in question are dead either.
Let’s say that the amount that illegal aliens are costing the US is not half a trillion but just 3/4 or even 1/2 of that, would you then think that illegal immigration should be contained and that millions of illegals should be first deprived of all the economic rights that they didn’t pay for and then deported?
The huge majority of Americans support the Arizona law.
Do you?
Michael Peterson
Hollywood sound editor eh? I guess since his industry likely doesn’t have as much of a need for immigrants as other Cali industries then he’d obvious be anti-illegal. The sad thing is even a very basic google search will reveal his numbers to be highly questionable http://www.factcheck.org/2009/04/cost-of-illegal-immigrants/
Even CATO routinely cites studies or opines that illegal immigration is good for the US. Consider me mildly surprised you endorse such a shoddy post.
