A weak stock market has breathed life into bullion stocks and futures, and the fair winds are likely to continue if the bearish targets I’ve flagged in the S&P are achieved. Perhaps all that had been needed to revive the precious metals sector was a hint that something, anything, in the big picture had changed. For sure, it is an unaccustomed spectacle to see shares falling in January. Although I still expect the Dow to go significantly higher, eventually reaching 17,622, we should enjoy this reality check while it lasts.
