The Sunday night crew, as deft a bunch of thieves and opportunists as you will find in the markets at any given moment, is struggling to determine how much short-covering they can coax forth in off-hours trading. So far the answer is, not much. This, despite the fact that some traders would have viewed Friday’s selloff as way overdone. Index futures were allowed to trade briefly on Good Friday, allowing the usual bunch of bunco artists and thimble-riggers to pull their bids and let stock fall when horrific payroll numbers were announced. From the look of things at the moment, stocks will have further to fall when they open on Monday. That’s assuming DaBoyz are unable to push them down Sunday night beneath Friday’s lows.
