At the Top of the News: SNAFU

Deal or no deal? As we went to press, there was still no word of an agreement between the West and Iran concerning the latter’s “peaceful” nuclear program. Both Kerry and Obama have been particularly coy about the talks for the last week or so, apparently trying to foster the impression that the U.S. has been bargaining hard.  Elsewhere, Greece appeared to be having its bluff called by Germany — a possibility that fueled a short-squeeze on Wall Street, even if no one can say why. The story of the hour, however, concerns the Pentagon’s plan to lift its transgender ban. I won’t touch that, but time may have run out for late-night comedians who would.
