The stock market has turned flaccid since earnings were announced earlier in the week by a few key companies. Is it too pat to think shares will limp to the finish line today as the week draws to a close? Perhaps. Although I very strongly doubt there will be any surprises to the upside on Friday, I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of a dramatic selloff. The market has looked tired since mid-May, presumably because most of the allegedly good news has actually been merely so-so news. How much longer can buyers hold stocks aloft when ‘spin’ itself has become meaningless b-s even to The Players? We may be about to find out.
