TGIF? Not on Wall Street, where Fridays are often an ordeal to be survived, filled with mayhem, hysteria and painful reminders that human folly will always be with us. The week has been a push so far even though the intraday swings made day trading as challenging as we’ve seen it in a long while. Stare long enough at the chart (see inset) and you might think you’re looking at the Frankenstein monster’s EKG. So, will the week and with a bang…or a whimper? My guess is the latter; but if so, we shouldn’t infer that the anxieties that have troubled investors in recent months have melted away.
