Cruz has pulled ahead of Trump in the latest GOP poll. This surprising turn of events could prove to be self-reinforcing if Trump’s unprecedented run at the White House loses its sense of inevitability. The real estate mogul found traction in national politics because America was desperate for a leader who talked and acted like a winner. But Trump’s brass-knuckled attacks on Cruz are not the stuff of winners. Far from it. Now it would appear that his relentless slurs against his Republican opponents, particularly Cruz, have begun to cost him votes. Although many GOP stalwarts rejected Trump from the start as too repugnant to consider, let alone support, their doubts about the man evidently have begun to leach into his base. Will bad manners cost Trump the Republican nomination? If he doesn’t turn gracious, and soon, that is what I am predicting.

The NBC/WashPost poll is a BS poll – but the media loves to jump on the outlier poll if it’s bad for Trump. I like when the Don calls interviewers who cite competitor polls if they are bad for him over their own…
I believe Trump has so shamelessly gone after Cruz because internal polling is showing him up more than the polls released to the public. Trump says he is a deal maker. If he wins the nomination, he needs to make amends with Cruz, because Cruz would be a great replacement for Scalia. Conservatives would vote for Trump if they believed Cruz would be appointed to the SCOTUS.

My understanding is that the poll was taken of GOP conservatives only who naturally would be drawn to Cruz first. Trump appeals to fiscal conservatives who are socially liberal as well as to independents and some Democrats who want a strong America. He’ll tone it down if he must. Let’s hope he succeeds.
Frankly, I think all the candidates with nothing more than lawyer/senator/unemployed for most of their adult life/criminal Clinton/Bush in their background should sit down and shut their mouths, or be ‘itch-slapped. They’re the joke candidates, including Cruz. Consider this..
How is he supposed to do a better job as president when he can’t cut it as a senator? Yeah, I know. He’s a conservative and his voting record this and his voting record that… But the country is worse off than ever. I’m not laying that on him, but as a senator he hasn’t been able to stop an iota of it. He hasn’t been able to rally support in opposition of Obama and his agenda. And that, to me, says he won’t do better as president. He should just stay in the Senate and let a better man shift the direction of the country, then try to be president after witnessing how its done, to keep the ball rolling. Maybe Trump won’t be able to get it rolling, but Cruz sure as heck can’t. And if he can, then what’s he been waiting for all this time?
