Russian Meddling as Entertainment

One can only shudder at the thought of what Putin thinks of Trump now.  Will the President ever live it down?  His embarrassing flip-flop on the question of whether Russia meddled in the 2016 election makes George Bush’s ‘Mission Accomplished!’ banner look like a relative public relations coup in comparison. The irony is that even if the Rooskies did try to sway votes Trump’s way by dissing Hillary in the blogosphere, the effort could not have had much of an effect. As most Americans, even those afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome, must surely recognize, it would have been easier for Russia’s special-ops team to convert Mormons to Shiites.

Did They Back the Wrong Horse?

Nor will any U.S. accusations, even backed by hard proof and a slew of indictments, likely dissuade Russia’s nefarious opinion shapers from trying again in 2020. Their kind of shadowy activity is intrinsic to the medium, and rather than fear them, we should count on them to exploit their sinister talents to-the-max every chance they get. In the meantime, no one should act shocked that the government of one of the most corrupt countries on Earth should have tried using Facebook and other online venues to swing the U.S. election its way. Even then, one could argue that the poor saps bet on the wrong horse — that Hillary would have been easier for Putin & Co. to deal with. The only thing that should concern us is whether Campaign Trump actively conspired with Team Putin to stir up anti-Clinton sentiment online. Even the half of America that hates Trump can’t seriously believe this happened.  Whatever the Russians did, or at least tried to do, we should find the good humor to appreciate it for its entertainment value.  Viewing Mueller’s indictment of 12 Russians as political theater is an inviting place to start.  The sooner we recognize this, the more enjoyable the unfolding saga will become.

Let me add this insightful note from Wall Street Journal columnist Holman Jenkins, since it ties with what I’ve said above: “Don’t be misled. Mr. Mueller’s Russian military hackers may have taken steps to preserve deniability, but they did not hide their hand. As the Obama domestic and foreign intelligence leadership testified in House hearings on March 20, 2017, Russia acted with deliberate ‘loudness.’ Its ‘No. 1 mission’ was ‘freaking people out’ about Kremlin meddling. The content may have been largely (not exclusively) pro-Trump, but the content wasn’t the message. The message was ‘I can destabilize your political system so don’t destabilize mine.‘”

Its much worst than many can ever think:

Here we see that the long plus decade and more trading range has lead towards a stealth like exit.

    VALUG
    NYA
    SPX
    INDU
    NAS
    RUT

In order of important during the retracement process from the 2017 breakout high levels:

    1) VALUG has retrace 95% +/- of all previous breakout upward pricing since the all time high.

    2) NYA has retrace over 50% +/- of all previous breakout upward pricing since the all time high.

    3) SPX has retrace 50% +/- of all previous breakout upward pricing since the all time high.

    4) INDU has retrace over 33% +/- of all previous breakout upward pricing since the all time high.

The most important ‘public demand indexes’ RUT and NAS have only retrace over 10% of all previous breakout upward pricing since the all time high, public demand is endearingly high the extremes.

    It gets worst:

    1) Falling volume during entire Bull market, a 1st in history with price moving only to the VALUG decade high, VALUG is a true portfolio index in value.

    2) Rising volume trend spikes during ‘falling pricing’ Bear market pricing during decade trading range.

    3) Blow Off of volume during the extreme pricing high point ‘late 2017 early 2018’ time frame, and to notice during the recent previous retracement of the highest high, the largest BUY SIDE (Green volume spike) which is BUY SIDE on downward pricing.

    4) Decade trading range leading all subject volume with extreme rising RED VOLUME SPIKES.
