A Low Point for Journalism, Congress and American Polity

Can a Pulitzer prize be rescinded? Journalism has disgraced itself beyond redemption, shamelessly complicit in an increasingly bizarre smear campaign against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. On Monday, a second accuser surfaced in a fact-free hit-piece by New Yorker magazine’s erstwhile Pulitzer winner Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer. One Deborah Ramirez claimed in the article that at a Yale University party 34 years ago, the future Supreme Court nominee waved his penis in her face. Trouble is, she’s not sure it was him, and even close friends she named as witnesses can’t recall Kavanaugh’s being there. The most seemingly credible thing she told Farrow and Mayer is that she was very drunk that night.

The New York Times, no friend of Trump’s, chose not to run the story after failing after a week of digging to confirm any of it with dozens of sources, including some of Ramirez’s closest friends. While the New Yorker article acknowledged no one could be found to corroborate Ramirez’s tale, which was as thin on details as Blasey’s, they buried this admission well down in the story. As the day wore on, even stalwarts on the left were criticizing the supposed expose for its lack of evidence, hard, soft or otherwise.

A Long Night Ahead

Meanwhile, Kavanaugh’s initial accuser, Christine Blasey, was waist-high in muck herself, since friends she listed as witnesses either can’t recall the event at which Kavanaugh supposedly tried to pull her clothing off, or cannot attest that he was there. Over the last week, the confirmation circus has become an almost unendurably shameful moment for America. With a Senate hearing on Blasey’s accusations set for Thursday, things are  likely to get worse before they get better. A brighter day awaits the nation, for sure, but it could be a very long night before it comes.

Gosh Rick was so right the other day when he spoke about “the growing political hatred between red- and blue-state voters. Half the country is at war with the other half”
We live in all too interesting times indeed.
By the way GH, I too am no fan of Trump, but if you’re genuinely looking for trading advice then you have found the right place, you just need to put aside political views.

I was considering subscribing to this service, but the first thing I saw on the website is a post from a very clearly confused Rick Ackerman. Anyone who believes that Trump has improved The United States of America is incapable of providing good advice. Ackerman will be forced to reconsider his endorsement of Trump in the coming years as history sees the damage Trump has already done unfold. I am glad Ackerman put this on his website’s home page. It would have been exceedingly disappointing to have paid for his service only to have later discovered how ill-informed he is on very simple topics like the state of our nation.

You embarrass yourself, Harman — most blatantly for your seeming obliviousness to the very strong U.S. economy. This is off topic, but are you related to L.A. bluesman James Harman?

Rick, it appears liebchen will soon claim that he too was waved at by Kavanaugh.

Yet another low bar for supreme court appointment. The confused accuser took a polygraph test and passed. She insisted FBI investigate and it takes one to two days to do but for some really hard to understand reason the GOP refuse. But hey that’s just a minor quibble. Not only is Kavanaugh accused of attempted rape he and his pal Mr. Judge, which also refuses to testify, is being accused of setting up women to be gang raped. Common sense and reason would have you POUNDING the table demanding the FBI put this to rest. Instead the GOP refuse? No one is smart enough to figure out why? I am. But wait for Avenatti to step in.

Welcome back, Gary. You can stay as long as your posts remain reasonably civil. It’s always useful for those who visit this forum to know what’s on the febrile brains of card-carrying uber-left revanchists like yourself. Your hero Avenatti missed his calling when Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey called it quits, dooming the big-time carnival midway. RA

Build your opponent a golden bridge to retreat across.

Because America you are going to need it.

Fannie Mae’s and Freddie Mac’s senior executives payroll history.

U.S. Treasury had invested close to $154 billion to stabilize Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Obama adviser James Johnson made off with $21 million.

Former Obama chief of staff and current Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel “earned” at least $320,000 for a brief 14-month gig at Freddie Mac.

Clinton Fannie Mae head and Obama economic confidant Franklin Raines bagged some $90 million in pay and stock options.

    A Long Night Ahead…indeed.

    Have a great day Rick.

For the future of Kavanaugh and all the hype, “What is obvious is obviously wrong.”

Kavanaugh in the end will turn into a Reagan type O’Connor appointee.

    A disappointment.

How Trump can summon the energy and courage to get out of bed every day knowing the Establishment is out to get him I do not know. I also fail to understand why the American people are allowing this to happen.

  • Ben September 24, 2018, 11:27 pm

Even if Mr. Kavanaugh makes it through all this and is voted in as our next SCOTUS justice, I’m betting the liberal Supreme Court activists — I mean, “judges”! — will refuse to work with him and probably demand his removal.

Just par for the course with the Dims waging a soft coup since Hillary (It’s her turn) lost to Trump.
Trump has suffered the slings and arrows of outrageous accusations from the word go.
As one by one, the latest slander/libel is disproved, another, even more off the wall charge is launched.
Since the MSM is solidly against Trump Inc., all he can do is Tweet his outrage.
Which the Dims spin as proof of his unbalanced mental state!

So, Senator Feinstein, with a Chi Com spy as her office manager for 20 years, and a husband that has raked in millions in Government contracts, produces Ms Ford as a paragon of feminine virtue ravaged by a Krazed Kavanaugh in the fogbound past!
And, after 40 people disavow any knowledge of the Animal House story, a new, even more sordid accusation appears from another nutcase!
Judge Kavanaugh, have you stopped beating your wife? Yes or no!
    Answer the question!
    LOL!
